People who say they don't care what other people think

Have you ever heard someone say "I don't care what other people think."? Of course you have. The irony (correct use of irony, twelve points!) of it all is that the people most likely to say that are the people who care the most. Why do think people take showers and brush their hair? It's not just as simple as hygiene. If I wash myself, I don't get sick. It's something much deeper. It's not about blending in with the crowd, persay, it's about getting noticed for the things that you want to get noticed about rather the things everyone takes for granted. "Oh, your hair looks nice today" versus "why didn't you brush your hair?". I look at people who say they don't care and I feel sorry for them. It sounds shallow, but the way you judge yourself is based on how other people judge you. Think about it for a second, when someone degrades you it's not because they had the nerve to insult you that makes you angry, it's the thought that they might be right. True insults hurt the worst.

Those people who say they don't care are trying desperately for people to see their assets through all their faults to prove to themselves that no matter how many bad things they can put off, someone can still see what's good about them. At least people who admit that they care what other people think are forthright about wanting people to see the good in them. So yeah, that's why I wear make-up and wear clothes that I look good in. It helps other people think better about me, so it helps me think better about myself.

Sorry if this is tally and unintelligible, it's just something that I'm really opinionated about but is hard to put into words.
